Let’s get to the bottom of this…

Tuina or Chinese medical massage, offers a therapeutic massage that goes beyond just a “feel good” massage that releases endorphins, although you get that, too! This massage is offered during an acupuncture session on an as-needed basis that targets specific issues based on your TCM diagnosis. It can often-times be paired with a gua-sha treatment for issues such as thoracic outlet syndrome, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, along with various neuralgias and myopathies.

Looking for a longer, in-depth massage without an acupuncture appointment? Massage is also a wonderful modality to prevent illness as well as taking care of acute and chronic issues. Check out Brynne at Elevation Therapy!

Q & A About Massage:

Q: Is it customary to leave a tip?

A: Yes. If you enjoyed your massage and you feel some relief, it is customary to leave 10-25% of the original cost. This shows you appreciated your practitioner’s skill, knowledge and service.

Q: Do I have to take off my clothes for a massage?

A: No. You can remove clothing to the level of your comfort level. During most massages you are covered by a sheet or blanket or both, with only arms, legs and neck being exposed at the appropriate time during the massage. You will also be on a heated table set to the level of your comfort.

For some forms of massage (i.e. Thai or PNF stretching or ortho. massage), you are completely clothed. Some Chinese medical massages (i.e. tui na) also do not require removal of any clothing. If you and your practitioner elect to include essential oils, lotions or heat therapy, the effected area usually do need to at least be partially exposed in these cases. If you do not wish to remove any clothing at all, be sure to wear clothing that is comfortable and flexible (i.e. yoga-style clothes, shorts, or loose fitting shirts or sweatpants). Our practitioners are trained professionals and can do any massage while keeping the highest level of integrity for both the client and the practitioner.

Q: If I am sick, can I still come in?

A: If you have a fever, sore throat or sneezing, we ask that you please reschedule your appointment. Please contact Brynne at: elevationbodytherapy@yahoo.com and she will get back to you within 24 hours. Thank you!
